Some people may be surprised to learn that this facial feature is more important than the eyes and mouth when it comes to a youthful appearance – the brow. Eyebrows play an essential role in defining and framing the face. The gentle counterbalance of the arch in the brow and the shape of the jawline all work together to accentuate the face.

During aging, due to a lack of elasticity in the skin and constant movement of forehead muscles, brows can begin to look creased, furrowed, and tired. People with dropping or heavy brows begin to look tired, angry, and grumpy. If you want a more youthful, lively look, a brow lift might be exactly what you need.

At Buckhead Plastic Surgery, we offer brow lifts with stunning results. If you are considering treatment options, there are three things to know about brow lifts and mini brow lifts to ensure your desired aesthetic goals.

What Is A Brow Lift?

A brow lift is a cosmetic procedure that repositions your forehead, resulting in a lift of the eyebrows and a decrease in fine lines and wrinkles. A brow lift can also address other periorbital signs of aging, like excess sagging skin and permanent lines between the eyes caused by using the glabella, a strong muscle that is responsible for frown or scowl lines.

Over time, even if you are happy and rested, having horizontal lines on the forehead and vertical lines between the eyes can make you look older and give off the wrong emotional expression in social settings. This is why patients at Buckhead Plastic Surgery opt for a brow lift. It permanently improves the forehead by making it look smooth and supple and repositions the eyebrows for a lifted, fresh-faced look.

As with most cosmetic procedures, different types of brow lifts address different aesthetic goals. Plus, since everyone has a unique facial anatomy, certain procedures work better for certain people. Amazing brow lift results depend on meticulous attention to detail with the technical portion of the procedure, as well as Dr. Larsen’s artistic touch to create the balanced facial features you desire.

One of the three things to know about brow lifts and mini brow lifts is the techniques available to you.

3 Types of Brow Lifts and Mini Brow Lifts

  • Coronal Brow Lift
  • Endoscopic Brow Lift
  • Limited Incision or Temporal Brow Lift

Coronal Brow Lift

At Buckhead Plastic Surgery, Dr. Alan Larsen is skilled in various techniques for brow lifts and mini brow lifts. However, this technique is the industry standard for this procedure and yields the most impressive and lasting results.

One thing to know about this brow lift procedure is it removes the excess skin from the forehead and eyebrows without shifting the hairline. Another benefit of the coronal brow lift is it requires one long incision made in front of the hairline that runs from ear to ear. This incision can be well-hidden as part of the natural hairline.

With just one incision, Dr. Larsen can remove excess skin and reposition the remaining brow and glabellar muscles for a more flattering, youthful appearance. He can also make small adjustments to create a smoother forehead and browline by removing excess fat and tissue.

Endoscopic Brow Lift

An endoscopic brow lift is also known as a mini brow lift. It is called a “mini” brow lift because it is less invasive than other brow lift procedures. While it is less invasive, we do not encourage all patients to get mini brow lifts because it does not provide optimal results.

The thing to know about a mini brow lift is it shifts the hairline back, so it is only ideal for individuals with a low hairline. In an endoscopic brow lift, small incisions are made just behind the hairline, then muscles are repositioned, and the forehead tissue is lifted.

Temporal or Limited Incision Brow Lift

This procedure is similar to an endoscopic brow lift but is slightly more invasive because larger incisions are made above each temple and behind the hairline.

During the procedure, Dr. Larsen will then reposition the tissues of the outer brow area through the upper incisions (hairline) and smooth out the worrisome lines furrowed between the eyebrows using the incisions made through the upper eyelid (temples).

Recovery After Brow Lift

Another one of the three things to know about brow lifts and mini brow lifts is there is a recovery to consider that will last 3-4 weeks. Downtime is a concern of patients having a brow lift, especially with younger patients.

Immediately following surgery, your forehead, eyes, and temporal areas will be swollen. For the first two days, specialized ice packs will be placed on your forehead 24 hours a day to relieve the swelling and discomfort. The ice is applied for the first 48 hours followed by warm compresses.

Keeping your head elevated with no movement helps promote a speedy recovery for most patients. During the healing process, your forehead and eyes will feel tight for the first week or two. Meanwhile, healing will continue for quite some time. It is not uncommon for mild swelling and small lumps and bumps to take 1-2 months or more to resolve. After one month, you should see better results, and after three months, you should see great results.

The BPS Guide to Facelifts & Neck Lifts

A Non-Surgical Brow Lift

The third thing to know about brow lift and mini brow lifts is you can explore a non-surgical option with injectables like Botox. This option is ideal for smoothing out wrinkles on your forehead and improving the look of aging and tiredness in the face. The injections can be done between the eyes to ease the glabella and at the corner of the eyebrows, providing a more alert-looking appearance. Results are temporary and not nearly as dramatic as a brow lift.

When it comes to looking youthful, trim, and fit, most people desire a flat stomach that enhances their silhouette. As we age, even with diet and exercise, it can be hard to maintain a flat stomach. As fat cells increase in size and volume with time, getting rid of stubborn fat in the abdominal area can be extremely frustrating. In some cases, liposuction is the best solution to the tummy of your dreams.

At Buckhead Plastic Surgery, we treat many patients with this aesthetic procedure with stunning results. Before your journey with liposuction, it is important to fully understand how it works and if you are a good candidate. There are some common misconceptions about it, so here are 5 things to know about stomach liposuction.

What Is Liposuction?

Liposuction is a tried and true surgical procedure that breaks down and removes fat from parts of your body. Most patients get liposuction in areas that are resistant to diet and exercise like the abdomen, hips, thighs, arms, chin or neck. Liposuction removes these isolated pockets of fat with a microcannula inserted into the treatment area. This process loosens the fat cells so they can gently be suctioned away.

Some liposuction techniques use ultrasound, radiofrequency, or laser energy to melt the fat first for easier elimination. Tumescent liposuction is when your surgeon injects a sterile solution into the area where the fat is to be removed. It may consist of saline, lidocaine and epinephrine. This specific kind of solution makes it easier to suction the fat with less blood loss and pain.

Ultrasound-assisted liposuction (UAL) uses sound wave energy under your skin to rupture the cell walls of the fat. This liquefies the fat so it can be suctioned out. Laser-assisted liposuction, or SmartLipo, uses a laser to produce a burst of energy to melt the fat.

Liposuction Is Not a Weight Loss Surgery

One of the misnomers about liposuction is that it is a surgery used for weight loss. While liposuction can remove small pockets of fat, it is a cosmetic surgery intended for a slimmer aesthetic. Liposuction helps reshape your body by contouring it. In the case of stomach liposuction, if diet and exercise are not providing the desired result, liposuction may help achieve that goal.

However, there are other factors to consider, like the type of fat you are dealing with (subcutaneous fat or visceral fat), your skin’s elasticity, and your weight fluctuations or potential fluctuations. Even if you are an ideal candidate for stomach liposuction, the procedure does not prevent you from gaining back weight in your stomach or gaining weight overall. It is not a “quick fix” that lasts indefinitely, because it requires maintenance for lasting results.

Liposuction Does Not Get Rid of Cellulite

While liposuction can remove pockets of fatty tissue, it cannot treat the appearance of cellulite. Cellulite is actually caused by subcutaneous fat pushing against connective tissue bands, which then cause deformations (dimples) in the skin. Since liposuction only removes soft fat tissue, the fat pushing against the fibrous bands is not affected.

This is one of the important ‘5 things to know about stomach liposuction’ because liposuction can actually worsen the appearance of cellulite in some cases, making the dimpling more obvious. However, adding a laser treatment to liposuction may help get rid of cellulite.

The mommy makeover surgery that Dr. Alan N Larsen suggested for his patient, to achieve her ultimate goals consisted of a Breast Aug, a Tummy Tuck and Liposuction to her belly & flanks.

Liposuction Does Not Reduce Sagging Skin

Another important thing to know about liposuction is it only removes fat, not sagging skin. As you age, the amount of collagen your body produces decreases, which results in less skin elasticity. Sagging skin may not be completely treated through liposuction. To achieve your desired results, you may need a skin tightening procedure to address sagging skin if liposuction cannot fix the area.

For some, liposuction needs to be combined with either a tummy tuck or a laser contouring procedure for the abs of your dreams.

Liposuction and Tummy Tucks Are Different Procedures

A common misconception about stomach liposuction, as explained above, is what the realistic results will look like. For some patients, by removing small pockets of fatty tissue, they will achieve the sleek, slim silhouette they desire with more defined ab muscles. But for patients with excessive sagging skin, they might be envisioning results from a tummy tuck, not stomach liposuction.

That’s why one of the ‘5 things to know about stomach liposuction’ is it does not necessarily give you the transformative results a tummy tuck provides. A tummy tuck is ideal for people who want to flatten the area above and below the belly button. During this procedure, your surgeon will tighten the muscles and remove excess skin. While liposuction can be used during a tummy tuck to aid in contouring your physique, the removal of excess, sagging skin and tissue is only performed during a tummy tuck.

You Can Still Gain Weight Back After Liposuction

One of the most important things to know about stomach liposuction is there is still required maintenance after the surgery and recovery. After stomach liposuction, your body will have about 70% less fatty deposits in the abdominal area. But you can still gain weight, and if you do, your body will store the same amount of fat in the same places it usually does. This means if you were to gain weight, your stomach would be smaller than it would be without the surgery, but it can still gain back fatty tissue.

This is why ideal candidates for stomach liposuction already follow a healthy diet and exercise regularly. They are within 30% of their ideal weight and have maintained that weight for the last 1-2 years. Plus, they have firm elastic skin and good muscle tone. All of these things contribute to achieving fantastic results for beautiful, contoured abs.

Morpheus8 uses these needles to emit radiofrequency into the deeper layers of the skin, which causes the skin to tighten. Radiofrequency (RF) energy is a scientifically proven method to remodel and rebuild collagen. It is minimally invasive, using a matrix of micro pins to renew the deeper layers of the skin with almost no patient downtime. This also prompts the production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid at a much greater rate than traditional microneedling. As a result, Morpheus8 allows for more significant benefits. It is an effective treatment to reduce the appearance of cellulite, stretch marks, and tighten loose skin.

What is Morpheus 8?

Morpheus8 is a fractional skin treatment that stimulates collagen production of the underlying layers of the dermis. By targeting the deeper layers of the skin, tissues of the face and body can be remodeled to reveal a more radiant youthful appearance.

What are the benefits of Morpheus8?

Increased Collagen Production

Morpheus8 works similarly to traditional microneedling and introduces a new way to build collagen in the face. Collagen production diminishes as we age and is responsible for firmer, fuller-looking skin.

Diminish Fine Lines And Wrinkles

Again similar to microneedling, Morpheus8 can be used to improve the signs of aging around the eyes, mouth, and forehead. Many patients notice their skin tone looks brighter, tighter, and smoother with fewer lines and wrinkles just a few weeks after their treatment.

Lift And Tighten Loose Skin

As we age, it’s common for our skin to lose elasticity, especially sagging around the neck, chin, and jowls. Morpheus8 can tighten that loose skin, and help remove excess fat in these areas and around the arms, bra line, and other regions.

Minimize Acne Scarring

Not only is Morpheus8 a highly effective acne treatment it can also shrink or, in some cases, shut down the oil glands under the skin that so often lead to acne. Once your acne has healed, Morpheus8 can reduce the appearance of acne scars by up to 50%—smoothing out the skin’s overall texture.

Fade Stretch Marks

Stretch marks are common among men and women, especially on the abdomen, chest, and buttocks. Morpheus8 can eliminate those marks by breaking up the scar and fibrous tissue below the surface, leaving you with firmer skin and more excellent elasticity.

Minimal Downtime

Because Morpheus8 is a non-invasive procedure, there is little need for downtime or recovery. However, most patients report a feeling similar to a mild sunburn immediately following their treatment; we recommend you avoid wearing makeup for 48 hours, strenuous activity for 24 hours, and direct sun exposure for 1-2 weeks. But after that initial healing time, you can resume your normal activities much faster than any surgical procedure would allow.

Am I A Good Candidate For Morpheus8?

The best candidates for Morpheus8 are patients who are just starting to see the signs of aging and are looking to prevent the development of sagging skin. Morpheus8 is an excellent treatment to combat the breakdown of elasticity in your skin. Many patients like Morpheus8 because the results are more subtle and continue to improve over time as opposed to a surgical procedure.

How Soon Do You See Results?

Results from Morpheus8 treatments are not immediate, but you will see a difference soon. Most patients report changes within 3-4 weeks as their skin fully heals. However, optimal results are typically seen after 3-4 treatments, each scheduled a few weeks apart to allow your skin time to heal and improve before the subsequent treatment.

How Long Do The Results Last?

Morpheus8 is a revolutionary skin tightening and anti-aging treatment. Patients love it because it helps address some of the most common signs of aging, including complexion issues, fine lines and wrinkles, and skin laxity. Most patients report that the results from their Morpheus8 sessions will last approximately one year.

What types of treatments exist for Skin Tightening?

As we age, skin can sag and droop. But technology offers us new solutions to slow down the signs of aging. Previously the most effective solutions for sagging skin were temporary treatments like over-the-counter products like Retinol, Hyaluronic Acid, or Collagen. The next step up from that is cosmetic injectables and fillers that can temporarily reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles. And of course, for a permanent solution, surgery was an option for the face, and body lifts continue to be effective solutions for dealing with excess or saggy skin.

However, as technology evolves, new solutions and treatments are emerging to tighten loose skin. For example, ultrasound skin tightening is a recent development that can tighten the skin on your face, neck, and upper chest, reducing the appearance of wrinkles.

Radiofrequency (RF) therapy is another popular choice, allowing a practitioner to use a handheld device and trigger collagen production. This highly effective treatment has been FDA approved to treat the face, neck, body, and hands.

Laser treatments are still popular skin tightening treatments but have proven to be more effective on somebody types like the belly and upper arms than other areas.

When deciding on which skin tightening treatment is best for your body, the best decision you can make is to contact a reputable Med Spa and discuss your treatment options with them. Let them examine the areas you’d like to have treated and allow them to design a custom treatment plan to provide you with your optimal results. At LUX, we care about our patients and want them to have the best results possible. That’s why we’re highly selective about which technologies we invest in. We only work with the best.

Accent Prime: The Best Skin Tightening Treatment

Accent Prime is a body contouring skin tightening treatment utilizing Radiofrequency. This non-surgical device can tighten skin and reduce fat simultaneously in one treatment. Patients can enjoy the benefits of this technology with no need for recovery and no adverse side effects. Accent Prime improves texture and skin tone and significantly reduces fat without surgery.

This RF technology has improved the look of various skin conditions such as melasma and stretch marks. It also does an incredible job of brightening and rejuvenating the skin.

Accent Prime can tighten, re-contour, and smooth your skin; it works from the inside out by heating the tissue below the skin, improving overall firmness, texture, and tone. Patients can also appreciate that this incredible technology also reduces fat in various parts of the body and enhances the appearance of cellulite. Contact us today to set up your consultation and see real before and after pictures of patients just like you.

Treatment Areas for Skin Tightening

Unlike many skin tightening treatments, Accent Prime can be used on all body areas. It’s commonly used to treat the following areas: face, chin and neck, arms, legs, thighs, buttocks, and the abdomen, flanks, and chest.

Why RF Skin Tightening is the best

RF skin tightening is a safe and highly effective way to eliminate fat and tighten the skin. This technology works by stimulating the structures under the skin and creating heat. This heat causes specific targeted and controlled damage-causing fat cells to be damaged beyond repair and eliminated. At the same time, collagen and elastin undergo a process of degradation, causing the complex collagen matrix within your skin to shrink and contract. The result is that the skin tightens and lifts to provide a more youthful appearance.

After undergoing the treatment, your body begins the healing process just as it would after any cells are damaged. Fibroblast cells inside the skin’s deepest layers spring into action producing new collagen and elastin fibers, effectively remodeling the skin’s surface. This process improves the skin’s elasticity, effectively erases lines and wrinkles, tightens and firms the tissues, and enhances the skin’s overall texture and volume.

Accent Prime is a product of the prestigious Alma Laser company that sets the gold standard for cosmetic lasers and products. They produce the best of the best, which we want to provide for our patients. Book your consultation today to learn more about how this impressive technology could benefit your aesthetic.

What is an arm lift?

An arm lift is a surgical procedure performed to cosmetically improve the appearance of the under portion of your upper arms. This procedure, also known as Brachioplasty, removes excess skin and fat between the armpit and the elbow. The remaining skin is redraped over the newly contoured arm to create a toned look.

What is Liposuction?

Liposuction is fat removal surgery. Arm liposuction is a less invasive alternative to an arm lift. It is typically performed to remove excess fat from those hard-to-lose areas of the upper arm. Arm liposuction slips the contours of the arm and is ideal for patients with stubborn areas of localized fat that do not respond to diet and exercise and are not more than 10-15 pounds overweight. There are several different types of liposuction and even fat transfer liposuction. When you schedule your consultation with Dr. Larsen, he will examine your arms and identify which course of action is best for you. YOu’ll be able to ask any questions you might have and learn about other treatments you might like.

Identifying the problem

During your consultation, Dr. Larsen will assess your arms and determine the underlying cause of your upper arm issues. The root cause of the problem can be excess fat, excess skin, or both. But the answers will determine the best treatment for your body.

As we age, two essential proteins from our skin are reduced, Elastin and collagen. As a result, the firmness and elasticity of our skin gradually reduce. The reduction of these proteins leads to sagging skin. A few factors contribute to sagging skin, including poor nutrition, excessive intake of alcohol and cigarette smoking, or even excessive sun exposure. It’s also common for your skin to sag after sudden and rapid weight loss. There is also a rare medical condition known as granulomatous slack skin, resulting in excess sagging skin around the arms. If sagging skin is an issue, it requires different treatment than just hard to lose fat. Dr. Larsen is an expert and will help you develop the right treatment plan. We want you to reach your optimal results.

Which one is right for me?

Now we’ve broken down the procedures and the causes; you might be wondering which one is right for me? Patients with excess skin and fat will get the best results from an arm lift. When you have much excess skin and fat, liposuction alone may result in residual sagging skin. So an arm lift is the best solution. One downside of an arm lift is the possibility of a surgical scar. Depending on your surgery, a scar can range from the armpit to the elbow. However, your surgeon can attempt to hide the scar by placing it on the inner aspect of the arm. If you have experienced massive weight loss in a short period (such as after weight loss surgery), it is recommended that you have a stabilized weight over three months before you schedule an arm lift surgery.

Liposuction may be enough if your skin is taught and excess fat is the only issue. Liposuction essentially drains the area of excess fat, leaving some excess skin behind. However, if you are young and have good skin elastin, the skin has an excellent chance of tightening and conforming to the new underlying arm.

If you have a minimal amount of fat to lose, many patients consider BeautiFill as an option. In addition, BeautiFill can be used as a minimally invasive liposuction or fat transfer service. Call our office today to find out more about these options or schedule your consultation

Is there a non-surgical option?

Unfortunately, there isn’t an effective non-surgical treatment for sagging arms. Although working out and living a healthy lifestyle can help, the upper arms are dynamic areas that change when the shoulder joints move. That makes it difficult for non-surgical skin tightening procedures to be highly effective in this area. The best noninvasive way to tone upper arms if your skin is sagging is to build muscle and lose weight through diet and exercise. However, even with a healthy diet and regular exercise, this can be an area where stubborn fat is hard to lose. Many patients who have lost a significant amount of weight have also found that excess skin is unflattering and challenging. If you’ve made these changes and haven’t seen the results you want, surgery might be your best option. Call us today to set up a consultation to determine what procedure is right for you.

During your consultation, Dr. Larsen and his staff will help you achieve your goals. He will examine the areas you’d like to improve and provide you with a treatment plan for your optimal results. Call us today to set up your free consultation

Weight loss can seem like an endless pursuit, but even when you’ve put in the hours at the gym and adopted a healthy lifestyle, you might still not be seeing the results you want in the mirror. As we age, it’s common for excess skin to be an unfortunate side effect of weight loss. It can be very discouraging to achieve the number you’ve been working toward on the scale and still not fit into the clothing you desire to wear.

If excess skin is a problem for you, surgical options are available. Buckhead Plastic Surgery has several options to help you, depending on your goal. Call our offices today and book your consultation. Our specialists will help you determine which treatments best satisfy your aesthetic goals.

Liposuction

Many people think liposuction is the right procedure for excess skin. Liposuction can do a lot when it comes to sculpting the body. However, it does not tighten the skin. In addition, removing fat in areas where skin elasticity is challenging can leave skin looking even more loose as the fat that supports it is released. However, BeautiFill is a common, less invasive alternative to traditional Liposuction. With BeautiFill fan can be removed and transferred to another body area where you’d like to see more volume. The BeautiFill system also stimulates the body’s natural collagen production, giving a subtle skin tightening effect.

Body lift

A body lift is an ideal solution to deal with excess skin surgically. This surgery improves the shape and tone of the underlying tissue that supports skin and fat while also removing any excess sagging skin. It’s possible to remove excess fat during this procedure, and it can also improve the look of cellulite or other dimpled, irregular skin surface.

Body lifts are incredibly customizable and can be performed on the abdominal area, buttocks, thighs, arms, and neck. However, because this surgery can address so many body areas, it can require a lengthy recovery. This, of course, depends on the places you’d like to treat and your body chemistry.

Tummy Tuck

Tummy Tucks (or abdominoplasty) is probably the most popular surgical option for dealing with excessive loose skin after extreme weight loss. Tummy tucks are not a new procedure and are commonly performed after extreme weight loss or pregnancy. This procedure targets loose skin and can tread diastasis, a condition that occurs to women during pregnancy. Diastasis can lead to a rounded abdomen because the muscles in the abdomen separate and don’t correctly reshape after the baby is born. This is a prevalent condition and causes weak abdominal muscles. Dr. Larsen can restore weakened or separated muscles during a tummy tuck and create a smoother and firmer abdominal profile.

Although tummy tucks are popular for both male and female patients, many women prefer to opt for a total “mommy makeover” procedure when they consider a tummy tuck. This “One and done” approach targets many areas affected by loose skin after pregnancy. After a significant weight loss, many patients are disappointed to find that they could not achieve a flat and well-toned abdomen even with a healthy lifestyle. If this is the case for you, a tummy tuck might be the answer. Dr. Larsen can remove excess skin and repair and re-contour the abdomen into a more pleasing silhouette.

Accent Prime

Buckhead Plastic Surgery is proud to offer Accent Prime, a revolutionary device that is FDA approved to treat skin laxity on the face, body, and neck. Accent Prime has been getting a lot of attention lately because of its unique technologies. Accent Prime utilizes a combination of ultrasound and radiofrequency energy. Combining these two technologies allows it to reduce fat and tighten skin simultaneously.

The Accent Prime device is an excellent option if you need to tighten a small amount of lax skin and deal with stubborn pockets of fat on the body and face. However, it’s not as effective as a body lift if you have excessive amounts of loose skin after significant weight loss. Nevertheless, accent Prime is an excellent option for tightening and contouring your curves.

Before considering a liposuction procedure, one of your first questions is probably, “How much does liposuction cost?” Unfortunately, the answer isn’t as clear-cut as you probably hope because the cost of a liposuction surgery varies by doctor and the area (or areas) you’d like to treat. Although the price will differ for most patients, it is possible to know how much your surgery will cost to be financially prepared.

The region you are looking to get your surgery done in also affects how much your liposuction will cost. For example, the average cost of liposuction surgeries in the United States is about $3,637. The average price of breast augmentation in Atlanta can range from $300-$3000 for treatment in a single area, but remember, this is the average. These numbers also don’t reflect the entirety of the costs associated with surgery; things like booking a surgical center and anesthesia add to the overall cost of the procedure.

Although liposuction surgery in Atlanta is more affordable than the average nationwide cost, you can indeed find quality work, as plastic surgeons in metropolitan areas tend to have more experience. When determining how much you want to spend on a quality liposuction procedure, you should consider your doctor’s reputation, the type of procedure you want, and the cost of associated fees.

What’s Included in Liposuction Surgery Pricing?

Apart from the factors that affect the overall price of liposuction, such as the amount of fat you’d like removed, the number of areas you’d like treated, your doctor, there are several costs associated with the procedure typically included. These additional costs include:

  • Fees for anesthesia
  • Facility costs from the hospital or clinic
  • Medical testing fees
  • Post-surgery garments (like bandages or stitches)
  • Prescriptions
  • Surgeon’s fee

The price should also include fees for a post-operative follow-up appointment. It is important to note that additional fees may be included, or you may not be charged some of these fees. Therefore, it is essential to know what your costs include when the doctor reviews the final price with you.

It’s common for patients to request an itemized bill before surgery, so you know exactly what you’re being charged. With the above costs included, most liposuction surgeries start at $5000 At Buckhead Plastic Surgery. Regardless of the price, your top priority when considering such a procedure is to make sure you feel confident and comfortable with your plastic surgeon’s capabilities.

Alan N Larsen, MD, Double Board Plastic Surgeon at Buckhead Plastic SurgeryIs Liposuction or Non-Surgical Body Contouring Right for Me?

There are advantages and disadvantages to both liposuction and non-surgical body contouring. Liposuction is a more aggressive method of fat reduction and requires significant recovery time. Patients will experience soreness, bruising, and swelling after the procedure.

Liposuction may be an excellent option for reducing more significant deposits of excess fat. It can significantly improve your figure in several areas at once. Liposuction results are visible after the swelling goes down and the treated area heals, although the final result is typically not fully revealed for six months.

Non-Surgical fat reduction may be a better fit if you are already at your ideal weight, have good skin elasticity, and want to target more minor, stubborn trouble spots. However, although you will see results after each treatment, the final will not be as dramatic, and multiple treatments may be necessary.

While neither liposuction nor non-surgical body contouring treatments replace weight loss, liposuction does offer more dramatic and longer-lasting results.

Liposuction Financing Options

If you’re considering liposuction but don’t have the available funds to cover it, options are available. If you qualify for financing, you can schedule your procedure without worrying about paying all of the costs upfront. Instead, financing allows you to pay for your surgery in installments, usually with little to no interest. Payment plans can be covered in 3, 6, or 12-month installments.

Buckhead Plastic Surgery offers several options through three different lenders, including:

  • Alphaeon Credit
  • Prosper HealthCare Lending
  • CareCredit
  • United Medical Credit

Each organization offers a variety of different plans for its customers. Some lenders’ plans work like credit cards exclusive to healthcare services, while others work like traditional loans. Make sure you shop around to see which lender works best for you and your financial needs. Keep in mind that while you may qualify for specific plans, you may not be eligible for others.

Things to Consider About LiposuctionAlan N Larsen, MD, Double Board Plastic Surgeon at Buckhead Plastic Surgery

Liposuction is one of the oldest and most common forms of cosmetic surgery. However, it’s still surgery which is a serious decision and should be made with careful consideration. When considering cosmetic surgery, it’s essential to research and find a reputable doctor to ensure your safety and positive outcome. Dr. Alan Larsen is a double board-certified plastic surgeon with many years of experience in performing liposuction surgeries.

When you book your free consultation, we’ll discuss the areas you want to be treated and create a customized treatment plan for you. Then, we can present all the options available and answer any questions you might have.

It’s also important to schedule your surgery at a time of year where you can fully recover at home. Liposuction recovery time can vary based on which parts of the body you prefer to treat. However, it’s important to discuss with your medical team and plan accordingly; most patients can expect recovery to last 2-4 weeks.

Many patients choose to combine multiple treatments such as liposuction and Accent Prime. Combining treatments can provide even more impressive results in a short amount of time. Call us today to find out if Accent Prime is right for you.

Liposuction is one of the most common plastic surgeries on the market today. This fat removal surgery slims and reshapes areas of the body by removing excess fat deposits. This can be done to create more balanced proportions in the body or remove stubborn fat and improve your body contours.

Liposuction is a prevalent surgery option for both men and women. Even men who are extremely physically active have fat deposits that can be difficult to shed, even with proper nutrition and exercise.

Because this procedure has been around for decades, many surgeons have years of experience performing it. It’s common for surgeons to use a small amount of oral sedation and tumescent anesthesia instead of general anesthesia. This allows for fast recovery time and allows patients to resume their normal lifestyle (including exercise) as soon as it is comfortable. Often as early as the following day.

The Top Reasons Men are Getting Liposuction

The ideal male body shape is typically thought of as athletic and trim. Most men would prefer a body type that featured broad shoulders and chest, flat abdomen, and a narrow hip and thigh area. However, as men age, the fat tends to accumulate around the abdomen, chest, and flanks (often referred to as “love handles”) as well as the chin and neck.

Even men who follow a strict diet and exercise regimen often face stubborn fat that doesn’t seem to budge.  In many cases, liposuction can effectively remove this unwanted fat and correct the problem areas.

At Buckhead Plastic Surgery, male patients interested in liposuction tend to be athletically fit but have one or two problem areas. Men also tend to retain their skin elasticity longer than women do. Meaning the fat areas beneath the skin tend to be firmer and more vascular than those in women. This is a real positive when it comes to treatments like liposuction because it allows for faster recovery with no follow-up treatments.

Although on some occasions (for instance, after extreme weight loss), men have loose hanging skin and excess fat. In this case, it would be better to opt for a procedure that can correct loose skin and excess fat, such as an Abdominoplasty. This is especially common for male patients who had liposuction in their abdomen, resulting in excess skin.

The Top Areas Men Choose for Liposuction

Abdomen:

The abdominal reduction is the most common area for liposuction among male patients. Various surgical procedures can be done to tighten and firm this area of the body. Some patients need a small amount of excess fat removed. In which case, Liposuction is a great option; however, if excess skin is an issue, a full tummy tuck might be necessary. This is usually the result of a massive weight loss.

It’s also common for men to follow up their liposuction treatments with further non-surgical fat removal procedures to help build muscle and reduce fat. Call us today to learn more about these procedures.

Flanks:

Liposuction along a patient’s waist or Flanks (often referred to as love handles) is the second most common place for male patients to request liposuction. This area of the body can be one of the hardest areas to lose weight.

Carrying weight along your flanks can make you feel sluggish, cause back pain, and often take away from your overall appearance. Getting a small amount of fat removed here can be a restorative process. You’ll definitely look and feel younger and more like yourself. Call us today to see what a difference this surgery can make for you.

Gynecomastia:

Gynecomastia is a condition where men carry fat in the chest or breast tissue. Often this can be treated by liposuction, but it sometimes requires excision of the breast tissue. (This is a different procedure than Liposuction because that tissue is often glandular and not fat).

Sometimes men who want a more masculine chest can lose a few pounds. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case for everyone. Accumulating more fat on your chest can result from genetics and cannot be addressed even with diet and exercise. In this case, surgery is often the answer.

If you’re uncomfortable with the extra tissue on your chest, call us today for your free consultation. We know that excess tissue on the chest can affect more than just your physical appearance. It can affect your quality of life, cause back pain, and affect your range of motion. Surgical options are available. Call us today.

Why Men Choose Dr. Larsen for Their Liposuction Procedure

Although Liposuction is a common procedure, it’s still extremely technical. You should only consider this procedure if you have an extremely talented surgeon. Dr. Larsen is a double board-certified plastic surgeon who has an excellent reputation for surgical precision and patient care. His team at Buckhead Plastic Surgery was hand-selected because they are the best in the industry.

Not only is Dr. Larsen an incredibly talented surgeon, but he’s also been performing liposuction procedures for decades. He’s extremely experienced in this particular procedure and has perfected his technique. Patients love working with Dr. Larsen because he’s so proficient that most liposuction surgeries can be done comfortably without general anesthesia, which leads to a faster recovery and less downtime for the patient.

Call us today to book your complimentary consultation. Let Dr. Larsen examine the areas you’d like treated, and he will present you with the options that will give you your optimal results.
