Have you been considering a facelift? A facelift is a great way to turn back the clock and rejuvenate your look by reducing sagging skin and eliminating wrinkles. There is a lot to think about when considering cosmetic surgery, from final results, to recovery time. Many people wonder when is the perfect time to get a facelift. Still, other patients worry or think it’s too early or too late to get a facelift. Don’t worry; we’re here to answer all your questions!

The Best Age For A Facelift

If you’re wondering what the perfect age for a facelift is, the bottom line is there is no ideal age. Only you can determine if plastic surgery is suitable for your body. As for the perfect time to schedule your procedure, it all depends on what signs of aging you’re experiencing and your long-term goals, genetics, and desire to have cosmetic surgery.

Some patients find it surprising that many people choose to get a facelift in their 40s. Although historically, more patients waited until later in life to schedule this procedure. Meaning in the past, people tended to wait until their 50s or even their 60s before they thought about a facelift procedure; patients today are more proactive about the aging process. You might be surprised to hear there are many benefits to getting a facelift earlier.

What Are The Benefits Of Getting A Facelift Earlier?

Patients who choose to get a facelift earlier in life benefit from a less dramatic change in their appearance. Facelifts can provide a significant shift; getting this procedure before your face has aged drastically can result in a more natural-looking result. The results are more subtle, and you will age more gracefully.

Getting a facelift earlier in life means your healing process is easier and faster. Your body produces more collagen and elastin in your 40s than in your 50s and 60s, resulting in better-concealed scars. Your results may last longer, and the procedure can often be less expensive than continuing yearly filler maintenance throughout the decades.

Types Of Facelifts

Once you’ve decided to get a facelift, the next decision will be what TYPE of facelift. There are a few popular options; if you aren’t sure which one is right for you, give us a call, and we can schedule a consultation to discuss the possibilities. Popular choices include:

 Mini Facelift

This option is probably the most popular with patients in their 40s. It’s best for those patients who need minimal improvement as it only addresses issues in the lower half of the face around  and is an excellent option if you only have minimal signs of aging.

 Full Facelift

Also known as a traditional facelift is what most people think of when they think of a facelift procedure. It’s ideal for people with moderate to severe signs of aging, this procedure addresses the lower face and neck, as well as a browlift to address the upper half of the face. This surgery removes excess facial fat and skin and reshapes it to a more flattering youthful contour. It can produce drastic results, and most patients are pleased with their new look.

 Necklift

This surgery can remove excess fat and tissue from the neck. In addition, this surgery can provide a more youthful and defined look; many prefer to pair a neck lift with their facelift surgery for optimal results and a cohesive look.

What exactly does a facelift do?

As our bodies age, the skin naturally loses its elasticity. As a result, the aging process leads to sagging and wrinkles. A facelift, also known as a rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure that tightens and lifts facial tissues to reverse the signs of aging.

Although many different facelift procedures can involve removing excess skin, smoothing out wrinkles, and tightening facial tissues, typically, it does not include a brow or eye lift. However, that surgery is often paired with a facelift procedure for total facial rejuvenation.

A traditional facelift is only focused on the bottom two-thirds of the face and often the neck. There are many reasons patients consider facelifts, but the most common cause is to help reduce the signs of aging.

How does a facelift make you look younger?

During a facelift, Dr. Larsen will reposition the fat and tissue under the skin to help smooth out creases, remove excess skin that causes sagging or what some people refer to as “jowls.” They also lift and notably tighten the facial skin.

How much younger does a facelift make me look?

According to a study in the February issue of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (the American Society of Plastic Surgeons). Patients who have undergone a facelift rate themselves as looking at an average of 12 years younger after facelift surgery.

What types of facelifts are there?

There are several different versions of the facelift. A mini-facelift is a modified version of the facelift which targets loose skin around the neck and jawline; some surgeons refer to this as a neck lift.

A mid-facelift is also sometimes known as a cheek lift focusing on lifting sagging skin from the upper mouth to the eyes; the area includes the cheeks and nose.

A non-surgical facelift, also known as the “liquid lift,” is a procedure that doesn’t require anesthesia or incisions but still targets the signs of aging, such as sagging skin and wrinkles. However, the results are not as extensive as surgically can be achieved, and the results are only temporary. However, this can be a good option for those wishing to avoid surgery.

Dr. Larsen is a double board-certified plastic surgeon with years of surgical experience. His expertise will ensure you achieve your optimal results. However, when you book your free consultation, you can share the areas you’d most like to address so we can tailor a treatment plan for your exact needs.

How long does it take to recover from a facelift?

The initial healing time for a facelift patient will take 2-4 weeks. You should make lifestyle adjustments during this time and plan to take it easy and focus on your recovery. Most of the visible signs of healing will improve after the first four weeks, although total healing may take 6-12 months. If you have an important event coming up (like a wedding), it’s essential to give yourself plenty of time to recover fully. However, you’ll be able to discuss this during your consultation and ask any questions you might have about the recovery process. Although the recovery process is lengthy, patients love their results and find the investment worth it.

Dr. Larsen will provide all his patients with pre-and post-procedure care instructions. Universally, patients who experience the easiest recoveries and best outcomes follow the established guidelines and communicate openly with their surgical team. We desire that you receive the best results possible, and we will be with you every step of the way.

Are there non-surgical options for a facelift?

Yes. Several laser treatments can eliminate fat and tighten skin, but a liquid lift is the most popular alternative to a surgical facelift. A liquid lift is a non-surgical facelift where dermal fillers are injected into your skin to reduce wrinkles and sagging. Liquid facelifts are best for those with fewer wrinkles and mild sagging. However, the downside is that a liquid lift will only give you temporary results and require ongoing maintenance.

What are the benefits of a Liquid Lift?

While a liquid lift does not offer the same permanent benefits of a facelift, it can minimize the appearance of facial scars, plump the volume in and sound your cheeks, plump and define your lips, add volume to your brow, and tighten wrinkles and sagging around the eyes lips and forehead. If you’re interested in learning more about a liquid lift and if its benefits are right for you, call us and book a free consultation.

One surgical procedure has set the gold standard for decades when it comes to anti-aging treatments. The facelift is still one of the most commonly requested plastic surgeries. Have you ever considered getting a lift? Many of our patients opt for this surgery to reshape the delicate tissue of the face and neck. This one surgery can take years of aging off of your face and neck.

However, no surgery comes without risks. Many patients are turned off of the idea of a facelift because it comes with a few drawbacks, most notably, its invasiveness and prolonged recovery time. Although the results of this procedure can be so impressive, we still have lots of patients lining up each year to schedule a lift.

If you’d considered getting a lift, this article is for you! We’re going to present you with the pros and cons of facelifts and present you with some excellent non-surgical alternatives so you can find the best treatment for you!

Benefits of a Surgical Facelift

You aren’t the first person to ask, “Is it worth it?” Realself.com ran a poll asking patients who received a facelift to answer those very questions, and the results were an overwhelming 92% stating it was indeed worth it. The popularity of the surgery also speaks to the results of this procedure. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, even in 2020 (when many people were avoiding surgeries and medical environments), there were still more than 200,000 facelifts performed.

You might be more interested in how this surgery could affect you than in reading statistics. Fair enough, here are some reasons patients love facelifts

  • Fully customizable- When you opt for surgery, you can make a customized plan to adjust your face with greater detail than non-surgical options allow. You can also treat many areas extensively, such as tightening skin in some areas and lifting other regions. Working with a Double-Board-Certified surgeon such as Dr. Larsen can make all the difference between you loving or regretting your results.
  • Longest-Lasting results- although non-surgical treatments can be long-lasting, nothing can make a more drastic improvement or last longer than surgery. Facelift surgical results can last as long as 10-15 years. Of course, we can’t stop the aging process, but having the option to stop the clock for a decade is a nice option.
  • You get the most for your money- It’s true that facelifts cost significantly more than non-surgical options, but most patients find that this option is more cost-effective in the long run. This is because non-surgical options require continued maintenance, and you have to treat each area of the face individually instead of the whole face and neck in one procedure.

Drawbacks of a Surgical Facelift

The main drawback of facelift surgery is that it is major surgery, unlike non-invasive options that involve risks and a lengthy recovery time. However, one of the best ways to minimize your surgical risks is working with an elite surgeon. Dr. Larsen is a double-board-certified plastic surgeon who’s been successfully and expertly performing facelift surgeries for decades. He has a long line of 5-star reviews for this procedure, and you can even view before and after pictures of other patients to review his work.

Recovery time can be a drawback to many patients; you can plan to take at least 2-3 weeks away from your usual routine to recover. In addition, some scarring will be visible, although good surgeons can minimize this and make efforts to hide these small incisions in places like your hairline or around your ears. It’s also important to note that even though the initial recovery time will be a few weeks, you will still likely be experiencing swelling and discomfort for weeks or even months following this surgery.

Best Non Surgical Facelift Alternatives

Because of these drawbacks, many patients are more interested in non-surgical alternatives; Buckhead Plastic Surgery and LUX Med Spa have many options to reverse aging signs without surgery. Here are a few of our patient’s favorite options:

  • Liquid Lift– many people opt for injectables instead of a facelift. A liquid lift can be a combination of products like Botox and Dysport, which can relax facial muscles and prevent wrinkles from deepening; along with facial fillers like Juvederm, which can fill in fine lines and wrinkles and plump lips and areas of the face that have lost volume you can take years of aging off your face.
  • Opus Plasma– Opus Plasma is a skin resurfacing treatment that tightens skin and stimulates collagen production.
  • Morpheus8– Morpheus8 is a microneedling skin remodeling treatment that stimulates collagen production and reduces fine lines and wrinkles.

To lift or not to lift?

With so many great options to reverse the signs of aging, it can be hard to determine which treatment path is best for you. Ultimately only you can decide what’s best for you. But if you want to speak with a professional about the best options for you or have more questions, the best thing to do is to book your free consultation. Our talented medical staff wants you to look and feel your best this year, and they will be able to answer all your questions and design a treatment plan for your optimal results; call us today at 404.367.9005 to book your free consultation!

Suppose you’ve ever considered getting a little work done. Now is the perfect time to start your journey. Many patients are worried about finding the ideal time of year to schedule their plastic surgery. So we’ll let you in on a bit of secret -it’s now! Fall is the perfect time of year for plastic surgery for many reasons. Today we can explore a few with you.

It’s easier to conceal as you heal.

Fall is the perfect time for plastic surgery because of the changes in fashion. However, it’s typical to spend the first part of your recovery at home. When you return to work or your regular responsibilities, you will likely still be experiencing some bruising and swelling. It’s common with any surgery for there to be some swelling and bruising. However, fall fashion makes it easier to dress in fashionable and roomy fabrics that help you conceal your healing process when you return to work. You can still look stylish and feel comfortable as your body heals. Long sweaters and soft cardigans not only feel nice against your healing skin, but they can help to conceal excess stretching, swelling, or bruising that is so common after surgery.

Whether you are interested in breast enhancement, a tummy tuck, lipo, or Brazilian Butt Lift surgeries, to name a few, these all come with a lengthy healing time where although the results can be life-changing, prolonged swelling is expected.

You’ll have greater flexibility with appointments.

Many patients wait until January to schedule plastic surgeries. This happens for a variety of reasons. Many women want to start the new year off with a bang, taking a big step toward living their best lives. Others are waiting for the holidays to pass when life slows down a bit. Whatever the reason, January schedules are often packed for plastic surgeons. Unfortunately, this can mean you don’t get your optimal plan. By booking in the fall, you can choose the perfect time for you and ensure you’ll have plenty of time to heal and schedule follow-up visits before the January rush. By the time everyone else is getting started on their journey, you’ll be mostly recovered and ready for travel!

You’ll have plenty of time to recover before swimsuit season.

Often patients wait until January to make sure there is plenty of time to recover before swimsuit season. However, because of this, it’s become one of the most challenging times of the year to schedule plastic surgery, and although you will be past the initial healing phase from surgery by summer. However, most plastic surgeries can take up to a year before the healing process is complete. Therefore, the more months you can put between your surgery and your swimsuit, the better the results will be. Booking your surgery in the fall gives you plenty of room to have flexibility with your schedule and will provide you with even better results before the summer fashion season is here.

Immediate recovery will be over before the holidays

Another valid concern with scheduling plastic surgery is that no one wants to be recovering during the holidays. This is another reason early fall is the perfect time for plastic surgeries. The immediate swelling and recovery can take days or weeks, depending on the extent of the surgery and how your body responds. Scheduling those weeks early in the year can get them behind you and much closer to your final product. Think about all those holiday photos and parties. Wouldn’t you rather have the surgery behind you before they get here? This also frees you up to travel in the winter so you can be out seeing the world instead of cooped up during recovery.

Why should I choose Buckhead Plastic Surgery for my procedure?

The truth is there is no right or wrong time for plastic surgery. There is only the right or wrong time for you. Whenever you choose to start your journey to a new you, we want to help. Dr. Larsen is a double board-certified plastic surgeon with years of experience and many 5 star reviews from patients just like you. We want you to love what you see when you look in the mirror. If you’re ready to see what a difference plastic surgery could mean for you, call us today and book your free consultation. We can answer all your questions and help you find the perfect time to schedule. Call us today!

Before considering facelift surgery, one of your first questions is probably, “How much do facelifts cost?” Unfortunately, the answer isn’t as clear-cut as you probably hope because the cost of facelift surgeries varies by doctor. Although the price will differ for most patients, it is possible to know how much your surgery will cost to be financially prepared.

You May Consider Non-Surgical Options

Many patients consider a facelift surgery when they have loose or sagging skin on the face, show signs of premature aging, or have significant lines and wrinkles. While facelifts are an excellent surgical option for many patients, some patients might be nervous to consider surgery. Luckily our partners at LUX Med Spa have plenty of non-surgical options that can also provide incredible results without undergoing surgery. LUX provides what’s often called a “liquid facelift.” What is a liquid facelift? At our med spa, a nurse injector and physician’s assistant customize a plan based on your specific cosmetic goals that combine popular non-surgical treatments, such as KYBELLA®, JUVÉDERM® and VOLUMA® fillers, and BOTOX® Cosmetic. If this is a route you’d like to explore, call us to get more information and schedule your free consultation today!

Things to Consider About Facelift Surgery

Facelifts are standard forms of cosmetic surgery. However, it’s still surgery which is a serious decision and should be made with careful consideration. When considering cosmetic surgery, it’s essential to research and find a reputable doctor to ensure your safety and positive outcome. Dr. Alan Larsen is a double board-certified plastic surgeon with many years of experience.

When you book your free consultation, we’ll discuss the areas you want to be treated and create a customized treatment plan for you. Then, we can present all the options available and answer any questions you might have.

Many patients prefer to combine non-surgical services with their facelift surgery for even more impressive results. Call us today to book your free consultation to find out which services might be best for you.

Facelift financing options

If you’re considering a facelift but don’t have the available funds to cover it, options are available. If you qualify for financing, you can schedule your procedure without worrying about paying all of the upfront costs. Financing allows you to pay for your surgery in installments, usually with little to no interest. Payment plans can be covered in 3, 6, or 12-month installments.

Buckhead Plastic Surgery offers several options through three different lenders, including:

  • Alphaeon Credit
  • Prosper HealthCare Lending
  • CareCredit
  • United Medical Credit

Each organization offers a variety of different plans for its customers. Some lenders’ plans work like credit cards exclusive to healthcare services, while others work like traditional loans. Make sure you shop around to see which lender works best for you and your financial needs. Keep in mind that while you may qualify for specific plans, you may not be eligible for others.

What is a total facelift?

The term facelift is often used incorrectly or misunderstood. Facelifts can be divided into a forehead lift, midface lift, and a lower facelift with the neck lift as yet another procedure. Although these can be performed individually, many patients choose to combine them.

Patients tend to assume that a typical facelift treats all regions of the face and neck. In reality, a “facelift” surgery usually treats the lower two-thirds of the face. Meaning everything below the tops of the ears. An upper facelift (often called a brow lift) is a separate procedure.  A Total Facelift is a combination of all these areas, along with the neck in one procedure.

A Total Facelift is a surgical procedure with the goal of improving the visible signs of aging on the face and neck. This can Include sagging skin, deepening fold lines around the corners of the mouth and nose, hanging areas around the jaws and cheeks, fat deposits that have fallen giving a hollow appearance to the cheeks and under-eye areas, and loose skin and excess fat on the neck that gives the appearance of a double chin.

It’s common for patients to consider a Total Facelift for various reasons including the loss of the youthful contours of the face. The visible signs of aging can be contributed to various factors including the natural thinning of the skin, loss of facial fat, effects of gravity, stress or environment, sun damage as well as our genetic makeup and heredity.

For More info about Facelifts Download our Ebook: “THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO FACELIFTS AND NECKLIFTS”

Who is a good candidate for a total facelift?

The best candidates for a Total Facelift are healthy individuals who do not suffer from medical conditions that can impair healing. Non-smokers, and individuals who have both a positive outlook and realistic expectations of what is possible with cosmetic surgeries.

What is a forehead lift?

A forehead lift, (commonly known as a brow lift) is a cosmetic procedure that reduces lines and wrinkles that develop across the forehead by removing excess and sagging skin and repositioning the underlying muscle and tissue. Along with those that occur commonly on the bridge of the nose or between the eyes. It can improve the expression of frown lines and the vertical creases that develop between the eyebrows which can give you the appearance of being tired or stressed. It can raise sagging brows that are causing the upper eyelids to have a hooded appearance. And it places eyebrows in an alert and youthful position. The Total Facelift: Forehead Lift, Midface Lift, & Neck Lift

What is a midface lift?

The term “midface” is used to describe the area of the face from the corners of your eyes to the corners of your mouth, including the areas of the nose, cheeks and upper area above your lip. A midface lift can improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by removing excess skin as well as repositioning the fatty tissue under the skin to a more pleasing contour.

What is a neck lift?

A neck lift (sometimes referred to as a lower rhytidectomy) is a cosmetic procedure that improves the visible signs of aging along the jawline and neck. This surgery typically addresses issues including excess fat and hanging skin on the lower face. Along with excess fatty deposits under the chin, and can tighten loose neck skin and improve the appearance of muscle banding in the neck, which creates abnormal contours.

The loss of the youthful contours of the neck and face can occur from various factors including heredity, environmental conditions, stress, and gravity. Some people choose to consider a neck lift along with their facelift when they notice excess wrinkling of the neck skin, a double chin or simply to avoid the neck area not matching the upper facial contours.

What are the results like?

The results of Total Facelifts are different for each patient. Although excellent results are always expected, your individual results will be based on the surgical techniques used, the desired results, and your body and bone structure as well as your skin’s elasticity and ability to heal.

Most patients feel like they are presentable within 10-14 days of their surgery. However, it typically takes 2-3 months for the face to fully heal and feel normal again. As the swelling and bruising subside, the visible improvements of your procedures will appear. Your final results will provide you with a more youthful appearance and often an improvement to your confidence.

Of course, no procedure can stop the aging process, so it is important to follow Dr. Larsen’s instructions to ensure the success of your surgery and prolong the results for as long as possible. Continuing to live a healthy lifestyle and using daily sun protection is extremely important. To increase the longevity of your total facelift, LUX Med Spa offers injectables, fillers, laser treatments, and high quality skincare products to maintain your more youthful appearance.

What is recovery like?

The most difficult part of recovery for most patients is the first night after surgery, which is why we require an overnight stay. This way you’ll receive round the clock professional care to ensure your comfort and medical care. After the first night, you should expect some discomfort, but it can usually be managed with pain medication.

After the next week or so the bruising and skin discoloration resolves, swelling will decrease and you will notice your new facial features. Each patient’s healing process is slightly different but you should expect your facial skin to feel a bit tight. It will eventually return to normal as the healing process continues. A full return to activity is expected by 6 weeks and in roughly 3 months your results will likely reveal your new youthful and natural-looking appearance.

Why You Should Work With Dr. Larsen for Your Total Facelift

Patients have been turning to Buckhead Plastic Surgery for years. Dr. Larsen is a double board-certified plastic surgeon with over 20 years of cosmetic surgery experience. Facelift surgery is the cornerstone procedure in the world of plastic surgery. When the topic of plastic surgery arises, face lifts are at the top of the list. As with any plastic surgery procedure, patients typically have a lot of questions, so we compiled the most commonly asked questions for you about facelift surgery.

What is Facelift Surgery?

A facelift (referred to as a facial rhytidectomy) is a surgical procedure that improves the contours of the face and reduces the visible signs of aging. It is best known for:

  • Reversing the aging process, allowing you to look and feel younger
  • Lifting and tightening the appearance of sagging skin on the face
  • Eliminating or reducing the fold lines between the nose and the corner of the mouth
  • Removing or redistributing fat deposits that have aged your lower face
  • Lifting and rejuvenating the lower face
  • Removing jowls and sagging skin over and around the jawline

I have been considering other procedures, should I combine them with my Face Lift?

A revitalizing facelift is often performed in conjunction with other surgeries such as a brow lift, facial implants, eyelid surgery, skin resurfacing, lip augmentation, and/or a neck lift. When combined with a face lift, a patient can achieve optimal results. Here are some improvements you can expect with these additional procedures:

  • Balanced and elongated proportions with a chin implant Injectable Treatments at Buckhead Plastic Surgery Atlanta Jeuveau® vs. Botox® at LUX Med Spa
  • Tighter, more refreshed eyelids from a blepharoplasty
  • Fuller, more youthful lips with a lip augmentation
  • Lifted, more open and awake eyes with a brow lift

As we age, your underlying facial structures change. On the inside, we have loss of facial fat (whoever thought that would be a problem?) and bone loss. On the outside, exposure to the sun, accounts for about 85% of our skin damage, loss of elasticity, and sagging of the tissue.  And you are not exempt, the aging process affects us all. Other processes including stress, environment, smoking and genetics all take a toll on our skin.

Buckhead Plastic Surgery has several options for facial rejuvenation starting at minimally invasive cosmetic treatments such as botox and fillers. Stepping it up to our laser treatments for a more brightened, even appearance to your skin. Finally, approaching the longer lasting, complete facelifts which can include brow lift, blepharoplasty, lip augmentation, and neck lift. While minimally invasive treatments may “feel good” with less downtime and minor healing requirements, ultimately they can only go so far and will not address your deeper concerns the same way a face lift would. If you’re unsure of which procedure is right for you, call our office and book a consultation. Dr. Larsen will examine your facial structure and present you with a personalized treatment plan so you can achieve your optimal results. Our goal is to help you feel your best when you look in the mirror. We will always provide you with options for the best and most natural-looking results.

How much does a facelift typically cost in Atlanta?

A facelift is a procedure that is commonly combined with other surgeries such as a neck lift. Each cosmetic surgery is specific to your facial contours and genetics. A facelift in Atlanta can cost anywhere from $6,000-8,000. However, the combination of a face and neck lift procedure at Buckhead Plastic Surgery starts at $9,500

Feel free to read our reviews to see how pleased our patients have been with their procedures. Our patients are thrilled with their new youthful appearance, and we are confident we can do the same for you.

What are the steps of a facelift?

To begin your facelift journey, we always start with a thorough and comprehensive consultation at Buckhead Plastic Surgery with Dr. Larsen. We will carefully listen to your concerns, wants, and needs, and tailor that into customized treatment plan for you. Your ideas and goals are always the foremost priority in our customized plan.

brow lift at buckhead plastic surgery in atlanta dr. alan n larsenHaving tailored your customized treatment plan, you’re off to the operating room. Your facelift will most likely be performed under general anesthesia, however, under certain circumstances, your facelift may be performed under local anesthesia with sedation.  Dr. Larsen’s typical facelift both tightens the underlying structures (SMAS), then re-drapes and tightens the overlying skin. If other procedures have been decided upon they will be completed at the same time.

In a traditional facelift, the incision starts in the hairline above the ear. It then continues down along the ear, around the earlobe, and back into the hairline as it ends nears the lower part of your scalp. The underlying tissue of the face is repositioned and tightened, and the fat deposits under the skin may be sculpted or removed. Your skin will then be redraped and any excess skin removed before the sutures are closed.

A limited incision facelift is a popular alternative to the traditional facelift typically for the younger adult. It involves smaller incisions at the temples and around the ears. Often referred to as a “mini-lifts. The mini-lift procedure is less invasive than the traditional facelift. Therefore, in the younger patient requiring less “lifting”, this procedure can be fantastic. However, using this procedure in someone requiring greater rejuvenation, the results will be less dramatic than having a traditional facelift.

What to expect during facelift recovery?

In many offices facelifts are an outpatient procedure, here at Buckhead Plastic Surgery we require an overnight stay. This is solely with your safety and comfort in mind. With an overnight stay, we will have a nurse with you throughout the night for an enhanced recovery. Recovering from a facelift is not particularly painful, but the first 24 hours are when you will experience the most discomfort. This is why we invite you to stay in a luxury suite at the Chastain Surgery Center, where Dr. Larsen exclusively operates. Let our caring medical staff attend to all your medical needs in a brand new state of the art facility. The team at Chastain Surgery Center will provide you with 5-star medical care around the clock. They will make you as comfortable as possible, so all you need to do is rest and relax. chastain surgery center atlanta, ga Dr alan n larsen buckhead plastic surgery

When you leave Chastain Surgery Center, we will send you home with clear instructions on how to care for yourself. Immediately following the surgery, a light dressing will be in place to reduce the swelling. It’s normal to feel some discomfort, and most patients report feeling sore or tight across the face. This is simply a part of the healing process, and some discomfort will be present. It is usually very mild and controlled with an over the counter anti-inflammatory after the first 3-4 days.

Your specific home care instructions will vary based on the procedure and any other combined procedures that were done. Typical care instructions include a few lifestyle adjustments such as sleeping on your head elevated at an incline. The swelling will reach its peak during the first week and rest is recommended. (Time to let someone else take care of the house, it’s probably best that you just catch up on your reading or your favorite Netflix show). Most people can get up easily and move around the day after surgery.

After 10 days or so most people can return to work and regular responsibilities. Maybe take a few more weeks off from anything like Kickboxing or Crossfit… this is no time to join a dodgeball league. You will be able to return to cardio in three weeks. Most sutures will be removed in the first 5 days. Swelling will greatly improve over the first 4 weeks, in which you will start to see your amazing results, and will continue to improve over the next several months.

Are the results permanent?

No cosmetic procedure can stop the aging process. Facial rejuvenation, such as a facelift, turns back the clock of time. Afterwards, however, the clock restarts just with a younger you. At this point, it is essential for you to be proactive in taking steps to maintain your results. Caring for your skin, protecting it from sun, and continuing with treatments such as Forever Young BBL (a laser treatment offered at LUX Med Spa) will help to prolong the effects of your facelift for many years. Additionally, consuming a nutrient-rich diet and avoiding smoking and excessive alcohol will add to the longevity of your facelift.
