How long does body lift recovery take?

Usually, after 2 weeks, most patients are able to return to work and within 8 weeks most patients can return to all their normal activities, even strenuous exercise. However, because of the extent of body lift surgery, we insist that you spend your first night recovering in our facility. Let us provide you with pain management and round the clock care to make you as comfortable as possible as you begin to heal.

After you return home healing will take time. The amount of that time will vary patient to patient, based on your specific procedure and also your body’s ability to heal. However, most patients find the majority of discomfort rapidly decreases after the first 3-4 days after surgery. You will be provided with specific post-surgical instructions and a plan to manage pain during the initial healing process. Although this surgery is extensive, most patients return to their normal activities within a few weeks although swelling may occur for some time.
